This media has pores ranging from 60-300 mu, making it optimal for bacteria colonization. Its highly penetrative, hydrophylic structure allows bacteria to colonize deep within the media, allowing both aerobic nitrification and anaerobic denitrification. Good mechanical filtration is strongly recommended when using fine-pore media.
